I guess doing a video about ASML isn't sexy because they're not that important or there isn't much geopolitical talk about the Netherlands.

China has to be self reliance since USA start the tech war. They have to move forward, so the have to be self reliance not supremicies. Keep it up China.

Weapons and technology are nice, I suppose. Too bad those chips aren’t suitable for human nutrition.

only 5% of the chips need are for 5nm.

Reply

China auto makers have no chip shortages! China will be producing 7nm chips by end on 2022, and will be supplying the world from domestic production! '
The US boycotts and restrictions have totally backfired and forced China to become the world leader in production.

China can buy talent, but they can't build leading edge industries with it because of the CCP. All interesting and valuable IP ends up ripped off by the SOEs and their innovators end up like Jack Ma. Any threat to the party, real or imagined, is stifled…or worse.

Actually US can use for example Globalfoundries for F35 and maybe even all military applications(due to the relatively small size of military applications market) or even companies like Intel and Texas Instruments and Samsung Fab in Texas and other much smaller specialty foundries in the US(there are already some specialty foundries in Florida and Minnesota and some other states; mainly focused on military applications) so The US military doesn't have to be dependent on TSMC or any other foreign Foundry unless it deliberately tends to do so.

China does not want to dominate at the beginning, but the US forced China to do it.

no wonder recently USA wants to move TSMC factories to USA. Without TSMC, taiwan is not worth defending for

Reply
Jessiel Rosa 18/10/2021 - 5:33 PM

The best solution is to build another TSMC factory in the USA.

So basically, we could go to war, and everyone loses. Or we could go to cooperation, and everyone wins. But if everyone wins, the politicals and guns corporations will have less necessity.

China is desperate to develope its Chip manfucturig experitise and end its reliance on the USA , Japan and Taiwan. This is the reason it's intent on asserting its dominance over Taiwan, it wants TSMC. But the Taiwanese, having witnessed China roll back freedom and the rule of law in Hong Kong will have no part of it. China is a bully with an inferiority complex. But don't worry, Taiwan has very advanced weaponry, thanks to the US and the US would come to its aid. If China were foolish enough to attack, its forces would obliterated before any solder set foot in Taiwanese soil.

section 230 needs to be updated to regulate ai and algorithms on social media. now they have immunity and nobody can sue them even if they put profits over public safety knowingly. Facebook stopped their own research into how it exacerbated extremism because it was deemed "anti-growth" .

video translation: China should attack Taiwan now and absorb it into China. The benefits will be huge and hurt US competitors. It's a win-win for China. There's very little downside to absorbing Taiwan.

KMT lost the civil war and they shouldn't have been allowed to retreat to Taiwan.

I hope China doesn't invade, but just trying to see it from CCP/China's perspective and their benefits. I doubt the US will nuke China. It will be a bloodless invasion.

A scary message: Lack of strategic foresight in political leaders and dangerous dependence on the company that is the bottleneck of semiconductor manufacturing in the world. If the Chinese rulers decide tomorrow to nuke Taiwan, be ready to say hello to pre-modern era again.

Congress has to step in to prevent intel from outsourcing all its chip manufacturing. If chip makings is a case for national security, it can’t all be made in a country across the Taiwan strait from China. Innovators may be next level in human evolution, but corporations and politicians are at Neanderthal levels. They are both too short sighted and greedy to care about the future of these United States.
